Coffee beans and Cloves

This Diwali

Hi All!

Hope this Diwali is extremely enjoyable for everyone, your families and your bfs/gfs :)
At home we have lit the house, made cookies and chocolates.. Tomorrow there is pooja at office. at 8:30 in the morning. See. See, this is why I don’t like religions. On the  one day off they will make u wake up early! Will try to put up pics.
I was sitting here, in my room… the noise outside remote. And was thinking to myself. Whom would I love to be with this Diwali and what would we possibly do. I thought of Malu, and tara. We could start off with a Dominos special pizzas for four … And the Shallot Pizza! .. Followed by icecream all stored in the freezer. And we could watch You’ve got mail yet again, or ten things I hate about you, or letters to juliet (a recent rom-com – must watch!). Or even gossip Girl, though that would involve taralika’s initiation.
After the food high would die, Tara might try to talk us in to going commando for work and fall asleep (yes that is after the food high dies!). While malu and I would chat away, if sleep did not fluster our eyes. And may be we would even find that forgotten bottle of red wine and watch the sun rise. And be the devils to scream our way in to tara’s sleep and go for a walk followed by Cha!
And if Jozzy was free we could fly away on our broom sticks, with Gryffindor hearts! In our heads we would walk through secret passages, turn through tapestries, speak to the armours, and run up the changing staircases with vanishing steps! And try making an infusion of wormwood and asphodel.
That would be a lovely Diwali. :) But till then, we have cookies, and chocolates – almond rocks, liqueur, fudge! :D

Hope you all have a safe and jolly time!

The Smell of Winter

Have you seen it in you? May be not. But one can associate smells with phases in life. Like Biore reminds me of school days – syncopation, black velvet, abba, A.V. Room, cords and mikes. And the smell of mutton –  the bad sleezy smell you only get in our college- of cribbing even before exams at my real home on the fifth floor.  Bad booze, of Outlawed. Dhoop, of the girl who lived in 306, and played secret smile before every presentation. Neem – the first few days at High Court, when my knuckles hurt as much as  my feet, blacks and whites, and all things that didn’t fit right, and at times still don’t. Cheese – melting cheese of dominoes, tara, getting high on cheese and shallots, fighting over ice cream, and hardly managing to reach in time for attendance in Petro-mining. Strawberry hands n Strawberry knees of night outs at Roxy, lips wet with cosmopolitan, girl talk and  hiccups, partying till we dropped dead, rose cheeked, shoes worn, if Shubho had not already torn them! Coffee to wear out the booze, and creative conversations on how all other girls were complete skanks that night. And Lilies. Lilies of late night strolls, caffeine in my veins, Iris on our lips, and at times unrealizing in our feet too.

The other day I got a whiff of him. But like tides and the sea shore,  I see it come before it goes.

On other things-I simply loved Three Idiots! And yes, I watched it again!! :) Awesome screenplay, almost no errors in direction, couldn’t have had better casting.  Awesome. Just Awesome.

Shashi Tharoor is again in a mess for saying the truth. He ought to realize he is wasting himself in politics. Better write a few more books, I say!

Wonder who won todays’ match.

I had the most amazing brunch at Diners today. A round of the  fresh, straight-from-the-farm fruits, with water melon juice! Fresh too!! And cheese – a variety of. Chicken salads..Followed by soup and broth. Breads bacon and sausages.. yummm..  and three – three rounds of desserts. Chocolate pudding, with walnuts, well roasted and bitter. With dark chocolate sauce… dreamy.. Then a round of mixed fruit cake.. yes reminds me of Kookie Jar trips.. and then the divine.. Divine Dark wine Mousse.  Hmm.. Nice.

25 Days to go.. and wishing

I could ask u to hold my hand,
To stick around and by me stand.
I could ask for the sun not to set,
on these days of winter rain,
and unholy summer sweat.
I could live with hungry ravens,
and the graffiti on three o seven.
The mind numbing sessions of IOS.
I would do it again, all over again,
and who knows even economics!
Differently though may be…

Time has come, though I dont want to part.
Fate seems like a game of darts.
But who knows what secrets
the crystal ball holds,
may be Delhi, may even be Rome!
But rooted here, shall be my heart.
Though I had sworn this shall be not.

Had made too many promises to begin with.
Too many wishes, too much to play with.
Life has been kind, and sweetly cruel.
What would I be without these duels?
Be kind my friend, don’t judge as I pass.
Who knows if we meet again,
what colour shall be the grass?
